Sober in Vegas: Dining at Fat Choy

Okay, so….it’s been a little bit since I’ve featured a restaurant (and not a coffee shop!) so I wanted to write about the delightful and semi-hidden gem Fat Choy located inside the small locals casino, the Eureka.

Located at Sahara and 6th, it’s easily accessible via bus/uber/lyft from the Strip, and for you locals it’s relatively centrally located.

Since it is located inside a casino obviously this can’t be categorized as alcohol-free, but since the main focus here is the great service and food, it’s a fantastic sober-friendly option near The Strip that’s a bit off the beaten path.

Their website gives a brief history of their journey:

From a tiny 4 seat Bao Shop inside a hair salon named “Great Bao in 2011, to a food truck, and finally, a brick and mortar restaurant on Sahara/6th St called Fat Choy.”

And there’s an awesome hand painted wall mural inside the place visually depicting the restaurant story as well…

I’m a most of the time Vegetarian but my dining buddy is full on meat lover and we BOTH left satisfied!

Their menu offers options for most dietary needs and the staff was very  welcoming. I’d imagine they would be willing to work with folks with restrictions/allergies/etc.

I had the Sesame Noodles which were excellent, vegan, and are pictured below….

And my dining buddy had their most popular menu item…the Pork Belly Bao.

A note about the ambiance in case any of you are visitors to Vegas and unfamiliar with the feel of a small locals geared casino…the downside is they’re pretty smokey but the upside is you don’t have to wander for long to find this place!

I would recommend Fat Choy both to locals here in Vegas looking for a fun night out as well as tourists looking to experience something off the beaten path.

And if you’re not into Bao, you should be aware that they were also featured in our local publication The Las Vegas Weekly as having one of the best burgers in town.

I look forward to going back to try other items on their menu–all around an A+ experience here!

Thanks for reading and happy sobering friends!
